Our trip to the Tuscan city of Siena has proven to be very memorable to both Selwyn & I, it is one of three cities that we visited this trip that I have not been to so far, the other two being San Gimignano & Milan.

From the train station we took the cab (€8+) to the historic centre where our hotel – Albergo Cannon d’ Oro  is located.  We were both like kids inside the cab while we make our way to the hotel.  We could not stop admiring what we are seeing – historic buildings one after the other against the lush Tuscan hilltops.

Day 2. A Lovely day in Florence.

We woke up early on our 2nd day in Florence to re-pack our luggage and move 1 floor down to our “real” hotel – Hotel Colomba. That day, we had the option to choose whether to have breakfast on either of the hotels, we chose the hotel above (Hotel La Venere) to mix it up a bit, knowing that we will definitely have the next one below.

Home sweet home! I am back! Our plane from Milan landed Singapore yesterday at 7.30am, I rushed home for a quick shower and off I went to work. One of my main task at work yesterday was to keep my eyes open while I try to concentrate on things that needed my attention.

By 4pm, my eyes were glued at the clock waiting for time to pass, eager to go home, change my old sheets, do a load of laundry before I can relax and go to la-la-land.

We finally arrived Florence last night and both Sel & I were tired from the 2-day consecutive train rides.  From Paris we took a 6-hour train ride and spent 1 night in Nice, the following day we were up early again to catch the 1st train that departs to Florence (via Ventigmila, Genova & Pisa).

Nice Beach along Promenade des Anglais

We did not do much in Nice since we were only there for 1/2 a day, we went to the beach in the afternoon and spent the rest of the time just walking around the city.  For dinner, we went to a small authentic French restaurant (Voyegeur Nissart) – it’s cheap and is highly recommended.

We have been walking and walking all over the city since the day we arrived Paris. Walked to the sights, walked to the shops and to more shops. Never ending walking.

We are now in Pah-ree! loving it so far except for the first day May 1 (public holiday) shopping disappointment whereby all shops were closed. Nonetheless, we enjoyed that day wandering around the small alleys instead. It was a good day. The sky was blue and the sun was up. A big change from the sour London weather.

This post mostly contains images of Sel eating & the very memorable kangkong (water spinach) story.

It was our last day in London and we decided to keep our morning activities light to save some energy for the night’s Les Misérables show.

Hello Day 2! I was still on jetlag and the day started with again, a gloomy, windy, rainy weather.  Believe me, underneath that famous naughty grin that I have, is one frozen body.

I prepared myself for the weather with an inner long sleeve heat tech shirt, an inner shirt, an outer shirt, my wool jacket and another wool poncho/shawl.  I also wore winter leggings underneath my jeans with a pair of boots over.  Wow, since when did I wear this much?  I am more like the “don’t worry, I can take the cold” type of person.

The traveller’s rant – I will never take a noon flight again to Europe from Asia, I usually take the night flight but for some reason I booked a noon flight instead this time.  It was very difficult to sleep during the flight when most of the lights were not dimmed to reflect the correct environment at destination.  We arrived London 8pm.

During the non-sleeping hours, I was able to catch up on Suvivor 23 – Redemption Island (the Harvard dude is so clueless) on my Galaxy Note while Sel watched 4 in-flight movies and was constantly eating even if he just had his pre-boarding brunch (breakfast waffles above) at his “favourite” outlet at Changi Terminal 3 - The Coffee Club.
