Whether you are big on food & wine pairings or not, for as long as you are in Paris, I am sure a meal at the Il Vino by Enrico Bernardo will be one that is enjoyable.

The night before our visit to this restaurant I was reviewing my printed research notes that I brought along for our trip and realised that I had missed out on this restaurant.  I guess it is because most of the reviews were based on how great Il Vino is, as a wine restaurant – and we (Sel & I) are definitely not anywhere near to being wine connoisseurs.

The wine is the protagonist, is served by the glass. The real innovation: the menu features wines, not the dishes. – Il Vino

I researched further that night and discovered that they also have a normal lunch menu on top of the “blind tasting menu”. Perfect! and so lunch the next day was decided.

The place was a little snobbish at first but the staff made sure that we are comfortable and everything we needed is being taken care of.  They were polite, helpful and accommodating.

They quickly brought out some freshly baked bread with shaved cheese for us to munch while we go through the menu.  I finally decided to go for the Entrée & Plat (mains) €29 while Sel, the Plat & Dessert €25.

If you are keen to try the blind tasting, the degustation menu – Dégustation à l’aveugle is priced at €70 which includes 3 different types of wine, entrée, plat and dessert.

Selwyn & the bread while waiting for the food.  We were early for lunch so we owned the whole restaurant for about 30 mins.  It was more fun this way.

Our food came out no time…

Selwyn did not order an entrée but they also offered him a small tasting portion of my farfalle – chef’s extra nice touch.
