Weekend in Singapore

The weekend went past so fast and now, it’s Monday Wednesday again (I wanted to publish this earlier but got caught up with work related issues *sigh). I started my weekend by spending half a day cleaning the apartment thinking that this just another typical weekend in town – house chores, Orchard Road shopping and dining out. Little did I know, a planned surprise awaits me moments after I smell “cleanliness” at home.

We will not be staying here tonight ok? – Selwyn’s casual line. It is a surprise.

Here are the highlights…

Selwyn had planned a night stay at the Studio M Hotel (Robertson Quay). The choice of accommodation was no surprise to me especially since we have been frequenting a few cafes & restaurants around the area lately.

I would say that Studio M Hotel is a no-frills (their website depicts it otherwise) hotel around a good and quiet location by the river. It is also surrounded by a number of good restaurants (Japanese, Belgian, Indian, Thai, Fusion, Italian) & cafes, I am sure no one will be left feeling hungry staying around the area.

This is how the room looks like (with & without us):

Later in that afternoon, we went down to the nearby Kith Cafe to have an early dinner. It was the first time I had a proper meal at Kith’s, all of my previous visits are mostly just for coffees, teas & snacks, so it was nice to finally have a proper meal.

We shared 2 mains and both of them are equally satisfying. I particularly liked the chicken marinate, the bread and the homemade meatballs. It was overall a good meal.

After dinner, Selwyn had a shot of Macchiato at Espressamente Illy before we walked over to the nearby grocery at Liang Court. The slow & peaceful stroll by the riverside was a good exercise after a filling meal.

Sunday Breakfast at Epicurious Cafe

I was really excited to go for breakfast the following day, we went to Epicurious which is just a few steps across our hotel.

We always planned to go back to Epicurious for breakfast but it never happened, we just could not be ready early enough to avoid the sun (semi-outdoor seating). This time round, getting ready early was not an issue.

The food was good as expected, the weather was just nice and we did not wait for a table this time. It was an overall relaxing experience. Too bad we had to rush back to the hotel, pack our bags, watch the fourth quarter of Miami vs. Boston (NBA), check-out and head straight to church.

I had a super fun weekend, it was a good break amidst the chaos & stress at work. Now, I can’t wait where my next surprise takes me… BALI! BALI! *hint-hint*
