French Beans with Minced Pork (our old time fav)

Our menu last night at Zhou’s Kitchen was all by Sel – this was a promise I made after our not-so-great experience the last time we went.  I did not realise then that he was with the flu and I had to push his button with what I do best – nag!

Back to our menu alla “Smelly Cat – Smelywn”

Hot and Sour Seafood Soup (S$6)

It took me soooo long to take a good shot of this dish that by the time I was satisfied with my shots, the soup had already turned cold. The sad part is that I am showing you the best photo I can dig out and it is still not good enough (*ahem, standards!)

Braised Seafood and Beancurd (S$16)

I particularly love this dish as I feel that I am eating the healthier choice  – Scallops, prawns, fish, mushrooms, chinese bokchoy and beancurd.

So far so good, until we saw the last dish coming through the pass. Sel had to do a quick disclaimer on how it may look unappealing but it’s a dish  marked with a “Chef’s Recommedation Star” – I thought that was funny – him trying to manage me.

Steamed Chicken with Preserved Pickles and Black Fungus (S$14)

It tastes like 3-cup chicken. I absolutely ♥ it!

The overall food choice was good, I give it about 7/10 rating not because of the taste but because of the overall visual unappealing-ness (is there such a term) of a monochromatic brown night on our table.
