Florence – Train Hopping

We finally arrived Florence last night and both Sel & I were tired from the 2-day consecutive train rides.  From Paris we took a 6-hour train ride and spent 1 night in Nice, the following day we were up early again to catch the 1st train that departs to Florence (via Ventigmila, Genova & Pisa).

Nice Beach along Promenade des Anglais

We did not do much in Nice since we were only there for 1/2 a day, we went to the beach in the afternoon and spent the rest of the time just walking around the city.  For dinner, we went to a small authentic French restaurant (Voyegeur Nissart) – it’s cheap and is highly recommended.

Here are some of our “Nice” photos in Nice.

During our Pisa stop-over to Florence, we visited the leaning tower.  We left our luggage at the train station, had late lunch and headed towards the old town.  Originally, we were supposed to go back to Pisa the day after we arrive Florence, we changed plans at the last minute to save some time going back and forth.  I think we made a good decision.

Side comment (on photos): I should stop doing the Japanese sign yeah? I think I am getting too old for it… but I can’t help it though. Its been me for the longest time and I can’t really pose seriously.  I feel I am still lucky to hold a job in client facing and servicing – if only they knew. Haha

And so, after 11 hours since the morning train ride, we finally arrived Florence.  We found our hotel rather fast as it was near the main Duomo, but the bad news came during check in.  The receptionist told us that there was something wrong with our room’s shower and it was a Sunday so there were no plumbers available.  So instead, they have booked us for a night in another hotel just 1 floor above theirs and were instructed to go back down for the next night.

Our room looks like this…

It looks very err Victorian? The room itself is spacious and clean, I just don’t like the old carpet and the bedspread, everything else is as white as it can get – plus the shower is working.

I went to bed last night thinking that there are surots (bed bugs) everywhere and was itching all over.  I think it’s all in the mind.  Hopefully it’s better downstairs tonight.

Ok, till then. Ciao!
