The traveller’s rant – I will never take a noon flight again to Europe from Asia, I usually take the night flight but for some reason I booked a noon flight instead this time. It was very difficult to sleep during the flight when most of the lights were not dimmed to reflect the correct environment at destination. We arrived London 8pm.
During the non-sleeping hours, I was able to catch up on Suvivor 23 – Redemption Island (the Harvard dude is so clueless) on my Galaxy Note while Sel watched 4 in-flight movies and was constantly eating even if he just had his pre-boarding brunch (breakfast waffles above) at his “favourite” outlet at Changi Terminal 3 - The Coffee Club.
After 13 hours of flying we finally arrived. We took the Heathrow Connect to our hotel, Holiday Inn Express London Park Royal at North Acton. I also stayed here last year with Ton. I like it because it is conveniently located just outside the tube station on the Central Line (Zone 2), and the price is relatively more reasonable (£84/Night) than staying around Zone 1 but is equally convenient.

This is how our room looks like – Queen bed and a 2-seater side sofa. No frills, very clean, moderately spacious and has free WiFi inside the room. One tip, request for room facing the main road away from the train tracks so that you do not need to worry about the noise should you decide to open the windows.

There is also a big Tesco (local supermarket) just outside the hotel and it became Selwyn’s instant best-friend within minutes after check-in.
Ok, that’s all for now. The weather is absolutely crazy, it’s really cold, even colder than when I was in NYC last winter. My iPhone weather app is showing that it is 10° with rain but it really feels more like below 5°. Oh well, we better keep warm in the next few days and take loads of Vita-C!
